FAQ's
Why buy a Fibreglass Step Ladder?
The most important benefit of a fibreglass ladder over the metal counterparts is its resistance to electricity and flames. This is the electricians choice for working around live high voltage sources, as it can withstand 25-30000 volts. Fibreglass ladders are extremely weather resistant, with it not being weakened by the sun or doesn't corrode or rust.
What is the EN131 standard?
The EN131 is a European Union Certification for portable steps and ladders.
As of 1st January 2018 there is one standard with 2 classifications:
EN131 Professional
EN131 Non-Professional
The standard covers additional requirements for stability, slipping, durability and strength in position.
Is it safe to stand on the platform of a step ladder?
If the step ladder has a handrail above the platform will determine whether you are able to stand on the platform. The HSE advise to avoid standing on the top three steps, whilst the EN131 standard states to avoid the top two steps, if it doesnt have a platform.
